Building a dream home is not a child’s play; it requires a lot of toil on your part to save and arrange funds for the custom house. Generally, we visit someone’s house and draw inspiration to incorporate in our own house. Though, it is good to get inspired, it is very risky to copy the entire concept while custom building your home.
Here we bring some valuable tips that would stop someone’s dream house from becoming a nightmare for you.
Keep an eye on the budget
Sometimes you are so carried away with beautiful things that you ignore the price tag they come with. We insist you that be reasonable and take the decision. Though, we know you can afford that expensive painting and massive walk-in wardrobe in your dream home, do you think your budget is not going a toss with it? Yes, it does. Every rupee counts, because it’s your hard-earned money that you are putting in for building a custom home.

Make sure that the inspiration is worthy to be adapted
While you are planning to integrate an inspiration from somewhere into your custom home building, ensure that the inspiration is worth all the efforts and money you put into. It should be value for money and time. Apart from the financial aspect, it should blend artistically with the interior of your house and complement the theme too. In case the piece practically doesn’t have a significant impact on the room it has to be installed, then there is hardly any reason for getting it at the first place.
Suitability to your geographic region
Imagine you have visited a relative staying abroad and he has a wooden house; would you be able to replicate the same structure here in India? Probabilities are higher that you won’t, because the climatic conditions of one geographic region is different from the other and so as the kind of houses people prefer building. A wooden house would be prone to termites and incessant rain or other harsh climatic conditions in India, whereas some other part of the globe it is preferred as the only suitable material to building their dream home. So the suitability aspect of a feature is highly dependent on the place and location you are planning to build your house.

Suitability to your geographic region
Not only looks but functionality matters
In your dream home, beautiful interiors do matter a lot, but not at the cost of killing the functional point of view. Every piece of object is meant for a specific purpose and the one you want to have at your place should comply with that. If it’s just a showpiece then would you be comfortable to pay a hefty amount that would rather be utilized for some other important construction or interior furnishing work of your house, definitely not. In case you have seen a piece of furniture that looks great and is functionally versatile, then obviously you won’t mind buying and putting off purchasing another set of a sofa or bed.

Keep in mind the need of your family
Every family has different requirements as they involve people with different taste in everything. A house symbolizes an amalgamation of the various moods of the family that resides and thus the kind of facilities and services within it. For instance, if you have an elder person who is wheelchair bound, you have to install antiskid mats at major parts of the house often used by him/her. So, in this case any other kind of flooring that doesn’t go with antiskid surfaces that it becomes a problem.
